Unacceptable Damage
- Broken or cracked lenses
- Broken or cracked housings
Recommended Test Procedure:
Visually inspect the lights and housings for any objectionable defects. Some manufacturers may consider some slight condensation normal. All plastic lens covers must be intact and have no objectionable defects. Checking for damages with the lights on helps to locate cracked lenses. Each of these important safety items must be in acceptable condition.
Standard:
- Visually sound, functional if power and/or heated.
Acceptable Damage
- Minor scratches or chips on mirror housings.
- Minor scratch to the mirror.
Unacceptable Damage
- Broken mirrors and housings.
- Excessive scratches to mirrors.
- Excessive scratches or gouging to housing.
Recommended Test Procedure:
Visually inspect the inside and outside mirrors for excessive nicks, cracks, and abnormal wear. Check the full range movement of the mirrors if power. If heated, an infrared temperature reader can be used to test functionality. Mirrors are safety-related items and must be inspected carefully.
